These are the obligation without measure, whose reward, too, is without measure:
Through all three schools on the King David Victory Park campus, the upholding of the Judaic ethos of showing kindness and respect to others, pride in our Jewish heritage, a commitment to the values of Jewish communal life in South Africa, and a commitment to the State of Israel, are the basis of the Judaic education we impart to our learners. We are proud to offer an integrated Jewish curriculum that engenders a respect for our past and our history as a people, at the same time encouraging a willingness to interact and integrate into the future of our country. Since the inception in January 1960 - with 170 learners ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 4 (or Standard 2, as it was in those years) - our family of learners in the playschool and pre-primary, primary and high schools has been stimulated by the rich Jewish tradition and heritage, values and morals we have come to associate with life at King David Victory Park. It is only on a Jewish day school campus that the commemoration of national and religious Holy Days can be structured within the daily and weekly curriculum, emphasising that being Jewish permeates every aspect of life and living. Celebrating the joyous occasions of Tu Bishvat, Purim and Yom Yerushalayim or the more solemn events of Tisha B'Av, Yom Hashoah or Yom Hazikaron stimulates and awareness of the cohesion and faith that has sustained and strengthened the Jewish spirit through centuries of hardships and oppression. Add to that the uniquely Jewish experiences of Shabbatonim, Encounter, the Bible and Israel quizzes that provide learners with a wealth of diverse, life-enriching opportunities. In encouraging our learners to graduate into South African society as menschen, confident and equipped to pursue any opportunity they wish to, our Tikun Olam (outreach), Mitzvah school and Gemilut Chassidim projects are aimed at motivating learners to uphold and practice the virtue of Chessed - kindness and generosity to others. This is accomplished through involvement in upliftment, social and economic programmes with those less fortunate than ourselves, enabling our learners to make a meaningful and significant impact on the world around them - both as South Africans and as Jews. King David Victory Park learners explore, debate and develop their own individual Jewish identity, Zionism and level of religious observance - based on solid foundations, teaching and guidance.
